I've enjoyed composing these village paintings of which I have now created close to 50 in sizes ranging from 18x18 to 30x72. This is the largest in this Village series and includes many small details found in Portsmouth neighborhoods and downtown. I viewed Portsmouth as a small city with lively energy that feels friendly and varied whenever I am there. With suggested details of areas including pocket parks, historic markers and buildings, signage, events spaces, gardens, churches and more, I have expressed the ongoing energy that seems woven into the landscape and seascape as people live their lives along both sides of the Piscatqua River. I hope you've experienced this as well when you are in Portsmouth, too.
