I love the weathered look and feel of old wood, paper and other worn surfaces. I've created that feeling in this new painting. It has many layers of color along with pieces of handmade collage paper. The contrast of softened background warm yellow and crisp teal and white collaged paper unified both soft and crisp. The scratched-in casual line drawing in background added elements of the environment showing movement and change--birds, waves, water and fish. All that said, the sweet couple in the doorway are viewing their world from the comfort of home.
