This painting has been through some changes recently in my effort to make a stronger painting. Once I figured out why I wasn't liking it--because I had one area similar to a plein air impressionist style and another area more graphic. I chose to rework and bring the whole painting into a bolder style with lobster boat elements added in a simplified design style. The high contrast of the building (based on Monhegan Island lighthouse) morning light creating a strong diagonal light streak providing a great contrast to the rich dark blues of the newly renovated background.
