This imagined edge of the sea and land began with a random layer of paint dragged through with curves from a plasterer's trowel. I had no idea of what the final image would be, and simply began to layer warm colors such as the brownish yellows seen in the finish. This experimental way of working without a plan is new to me and forces/urges me to figure out how to develop a composition while playing with colors and surface texture. At some point in the process I saw the flow of water image and decided to retain some of it while retaining some of the underpainting warm tones which turned into small buildings. Hope this engages your imagination.
