This is my take on 'blackout' or blockout poetry. It is made by taking a page from any book, old or young, and blacking out words which leaves only a few words readable creating a new poem-like idea. I chose a page from a discarded library book titled 'An Island Garden' by Celia Thaxter'. It was a book I selected at a local book sale. When I tried my hand at blackout poetry, the words shown in this artwork are the only ones left on the page in the book. I loved the minimalist approach to telling a little story and how the slowed down way of reading it makes the reader think about what the remaining words mean. I love gardening and was thinking about it when I tried my hand at several pages to create a blackout poem. I enlarged the page to fill this 40x60 canvas, hoping you'd enjoy this crossover painted poem art. Try it, you might really like it.
