A continuation of my 'village' series. I began with a richly colored background of swirls and muted color on canvas. I had some line drawings in my sketchbook that were a variation of complex village paintings I have done over the years. I decided to keep some of the freshness of the lines drawn with white paint marker. In keeping the lines it felt more like a drawing than a painting although I consider it a painting. I have been a fan of flat surfaces such as in silkscreened prints and have tried to give this piece a sense of space, complexity and warmth of home and friends.
